2011 - 2012 Financial Opportunities
The Foundation connects women interested in agriculture and natural resources with the means to accomplish their academic and professional development goals through scholarships and leadership programs. The Foundation provides scholarships to women based on academic achievement, financial need, personal and professional goals thus lowering the financial barriers to higher education along with rewarding academic and civic excellence.
Foundation Educational Scholarships
Two educational scholarships in the amount of $750 and $500 are available to women currently studying at accredited institutions. For more information and for the application, download the Educational Scholarship Application. To apply, please submit the Educational Scholarship Application by May 30th of the given year to foundation@sigmaalpha.org. Scholarships will be awarded for the following term/semester. Foundation Event Grant
One event grant, in the amount of $500, is available to an eligible organization that is interested in providing agricultural understanding education, leadership skills and/or professional development. The overarching goal of the Event Grant is to provide organizations with the opportunity to enhance the understanding of the food, fiber and natural resources fields and to develop the leadership and professional skills of those choosing a career in the agricultural industry. To apply, please submit the Event Grant Application any time prior to May 30th to foundation@sigmaalpha.org to be considered for the grant given that year. The grant recipient will be announced in August of that year. The proposed event must be held and the follow-up report completed within 12 months of award notification. Monsanto Regional Conference Grants
Monsanto is sponsoring $1000 regional conference grants for each region. This $1,000 grant can be received when the conference has a professional development program and Monsanto participates and has the opportunity to interact with members to gain insight into potential talented candidates. This may include, but is not limited to, guest speaker, professional panel, networking session, receptions, Q & A sessions. Chapters will complete a short report after their regional conference and will submit this report the Foundation to receive their funds. Click here for report guidelines.

The Sigma Alpha Sorority Educational Foundation is proud to partner with Monsanto to provide additional opportunities to further the development of excellence in women pursuing careers in agriculture. The overarching goal of the Monsanto Professional Development Grant Program is to provide every Sigma Alpha Sorority collegiate chapter the opportunity to enhance the professional skills of its members so they may obtain successful careers in the food, fiber, and natural resources fields. Monsanto has donated $2000 to be distributed to collegiate chapters as grants for events promoting agricultural understanding, education, leadership skills improvement, and/or professional development. The maximum amount that can be awarded to any one chapter is $500.
The Monsanto Professional Development Grant has a rolling deadline that will end May 31, 2012, or when funds are depleted. Funds must be used between January 1, 2012 and November 30, 2012. For additional information, please see the Monsanto PD Grant Application.
Monsanto Leadership Seminar Scholarships
Scholarships are available to collegiate members of the Sigma Alpha Sorority to attend the Sigma Alpha/Alpha Gamma Rho Leadership Seminars in the spring of 2012. The ten scholarships, sponsored by Monsanto, are in the amount of $300 each. For more information and to apply, download the Leadership Seminar Scholarship Application. Scholarship applications must be submitted electronically in .pdf format to foundation@sigmaalpha.org on or before December 15, 2011, to be eligible for consideration.
Scholarship winners will be notified by January 31, 2012, with awards being issued during registration at the Leadership Seminar. Click here for the scholarship application.
American Agri-Women Fly-In Scholarships
Monsanto is sponsoring scholarships for eight collegiate members to attend American Agri-Women Fly-In in Washington, DC. The conference is June 4-7, 2012 and features updates for national representatives on the latest issues in agriculture. There will also be a chance to meet with your senator and house representative to discuss agricultural issues. National Ag in the Classroom Conference Scholarships
Monsanto is sponsoring scholarships for two collegiate members to attend the 2012 National Ag in the Classroom Conference in Loveland, Colorado. The conference is June 19-22, 2012 and features many workshops and speakers. There will also be a chance to meet educators across the nation and attend Ag in the Classroom workshops to bring back your chapter.
